1. Introduction

Lava Rock Labs LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Hawaiian Fishing Calendar mobile application (the "App"), also listed in some stores as Hawaiian Moon Calendar. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Location Information

With your permission, the App records GPS coordinates when you log a catch, so you can find your spot again. Location is used only for that purpose. You can decline the permission and continue to use the calendar, tides, and weather features normally.

2.2 Content You Create

When you create a journal entry or catch log, we store what you enter:

• Species names
• Spot names
• Catch weights
• Notes and observations
• Date and time
• The Hawaiian moon phase for that date

The App does not collect photos. There is no photo upload, and no image you take or store on your device is sent to us or saved on our servers.

2.3 Analytics and Diagnostics

The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics. Together these collect:

• App interaction data, such as which screens are opened and whether a subscription was started or completed
• A randomly generated app instance identifier
• On Android only, the Google advertising ID. The iPhone version of the App does not collect Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
• Device and operating system information, such as model, OS version, and language
• Approximate location at country or region level, derived from IP address rather than GPS
• Crash reports and diagnostic logs when the App stops unexpectedly

This information is used to understand how the App is used and to find and fix problems. It is not used to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.

2.4 Account Information

The App does not ask for your name, email address, or a password. It signs you in anonymously, which creates a random identifier so your own entries stay associated with your device. We cannot tell who you are from this identifier.

2.5 Subscription Information

Premium subscriptions are processed by Google Play on Android and by the Apple App Store on iPhone. Those stores handle all payment processing. We never see or store your card details.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide moon phase, tide, and marine weather information
• To store your journal entries and catch logs for your own reference
• To show your saved spots on a map that only you can see
• To process and restore your premium subscription
• To measure how the App is used and to fix crashes and errors

4. Data Storage and Security

Your entries are stored using Firebase, part of Google Cloud Platform. Access rules restrict every journal entry and catch log so it can only be read or changed by the device that created it.

Your logs are private. We do not share your spots, catches, or notes with anyone.

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase Firestore and Firebase Authentication: To store your entries and sign you in anonymously
• Google Analytics for Firebase: To measure how the App is used
• Firebase Crashlytics: To report crashes and errors
• Firebase App Check: To verify that requests come from a genuine copy of the App
• Google Play Billing and the Apple App Store: To process subscriptions
• NOAA: Tide predictions, marine forecasts, and buoy observations, all publicly available data
• Open-Meteo and Aviation Weather Center: Additional weather and marine data
• Map tile providers: To display the marine map

Weather, tide, and map services receive only the location being displayed, which is a harbor you have selected. They do not receive your personal entries.

6. Permissions

The App may request the following permissions. All are optional, and the calendar, tide, and weather features work without any of them.

• Location: To record GPS coordinates for a catch log
• Calendar: To add fishing time reminders to your device calendar

7. Your Choices

• You can decline the location permission and still use the App
• On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings, and limit ad personalization there
• You can delete individual journal entries and catch logs inside the App
• You can request deletion of all data associated with your device by emailing us at the address below
• Uninstalling the App removes the data stored on your device

8. Data Retention

We keep your entries until you delete them or ask us to delete them. Deletion requests are completed within 30 days. Analytics and crash data are retained according to Google's standard Firebase retention periods.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will note any change by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.

11. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to request information about the categories of personal information we collect and how we share it. We do not sell personal information. Contact us using the details below.
